Praying to God

I love my daughter dearly and she sure is sweet, at least 50% of the time, but I'm asking God......"please help my daughter to understand that everything in life is not about her; that she is not the queen of the universe; and that every time that things are not exactly as she would like, I care not to know what her friends have, what their parents bought them (a car, cell phone, etc.), yada, yada, yada! "

Do not get me wrong, my daughter is a nice girl. In fact, everyone always says how nice and sweet and crazy she is! She is all of those things but she sure ignites my need for a continued strong connection with God. Or, you know, perhaps it is just me! I am the one with the problem. It has to be that I am the problem because everyone I know thinks so differently than me. I keep reminding myself of how I would love to have friends and associates who see the world as I do: a place to learn lessons and grow from them. A place that was created in beauty and whose beauty should be upheld and nurtured, that children are a gift and should be treated lovingly and guided to find their best and to present that best to the world......that everyone's opinion is important even if it is only important to the opinion holder.....and most of all, .that we are on a spiritual journey back to the source of our very being and on our journeys, including all those we encounter, love, like, or hate along the way, have a defining purpose in our lives. The strength of our being lay within and the source of our strength starts with a seed of belief.

This started out about my daughter but I have come to see that maybe it was about me all along. Is that not the irony of life? And could it be true that life is really simple but we complicate it with our own idiosyncratic perceptions? "God, are you listening? I need a sign, please!" To everyone else, I am just talking to myself out loud and this is my soliloquy.
