ALLSTATE REPORT: GIRL TEEN DRIVERS MORE AGGRESSIVE THAN BOYS

By Becky Yerak

Chicago Tribune, distributed by McClatchy-Tribune Information Services

Differences between the sexes are becoming less noticeable when it comes to teenage driving.

In what seems like a role reversal, girls are expressing a new need for speed, while aggressive driving and speeding by boys is down.

Want to let everyone know about a great class for teens interested in babysitting. The Partnership for Children of Cumberland County is hosting a Safe Sitters First Aid and CPR class Saturday, April 24. Teens can register until March 25. After completing the class, teens will be certified in first aid and CPR and are fully capable of taking care of their children in any situation. I know, my daughter took this class several years ago and was able to react very calmly when a boy she was babysitting got seriously hurt several months later. The class will be held at the Partnership for Children, 351 Wagoner Drive, Fayetteville from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm. The registration fee of $15 covers the cost of the training and lunch, and teens must register by March 25. To register, go to www.ccpfc.org, print a registration form, fill it out and return it to the Professional Development Career Center at the address on the form. For more information, call (910) 867-9700 ext. 2535 or ext. 2537.

Okay, I'm better now...just had to get that off my chest.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone

I have two teenage girls, and a 9 year old boy. I am familiar with the drama that comes with girls, but wonder if the issues are different with boys.

One thing I've found that works for me is talking to other mothers of teens. Guess that is why a forum like this is great. It is nice to know it is them, not me!

Hi, Dorothy! As a mom of two boys, I can relate to your four-letter plea! But my fellas are both under 5, so I'll have to step back for the true teenage experts on this site to weigh in.

But I'm curious -- and collecting notes for the future: What are your sons' biggest issues at this age?

Hi, Keri. You're certainly not butting in ... sharing info is exactly what this site is all about! :)

Thanks for the tip on the library calendar. The library does have fabulous events! Some of the library's events are posted on this site's calendar (you can find it at the top of the main page).

Anyone can post events on the calendar, so please share upcoming events -- school, church, etc. -- that are open to the public. And then share pictures after the event!

Hi Mary...don't mean to butt in, but if you're looking for fall events for the kids check out the library's webpage...the October and November calendar of events is available and there's a lot going on, and it's free!!

Hi, Belinda! Welcome to the site. I have two boys, both under 5. I'm dreading the teenage years. Do you have any advice I could use now to get ready? Also, I'm looking for fun fall events for the kids. Does your church have anything going on?

New to 910 moms and this forum. I have a 12 year old son, active in sports and church (and trying to drive me nuts along the way). Just wanted to say "hi".
