So...We're up to sleeping through the night...on his own bed...

What's Next?

In a previous post, I begged for advice on self-soothing, hoping to eventually get a full night's sleep. It'd been 4+ months and we were still having all-night nursing sessions.

Well, finally, 3 weeks ago, just one day shy of 9 months old, my little man started sleeping through the night. He'll push an upside-down laundry hamper around the living room floor. He feeds himself finger foods, well, some of them anyway, he's a bit of a texture-phobe. He's learned to drink from a straw. And, he is working on his balance when he's standing.

He's been moved from a center-based child care to a home-based child care. And, believe or not, he got more holding & cuddling at the center! I guess I kind-of thought he'd have been more baby'd at the home than the center, but it doesn't seem like that's the case, and at his age (8-9 months), it has been a hard adjustment. But, he's getting used to it.

Now, my question is...should he have some blanket or teddy bear or other "thing" that he clings to without letting up? Don't all babies have a "lovey" by now? Is it developmentally OK that he doesn't? Wouldn't it make it easier on him at the new daycare if there was something that he had as a "lovey"? How do I get him to want one?
