A huge Thank You to Mary (for posting the pics of Saturday) and Cindy (who took the awesome pics).
I had a blast Saturday and I know my girls did too!
I look forward to doing it again and have already got ideas floating around in my old noggin!
I greatly appreciate Mary and the support and encouragement she lavished on me to do this.
Thank you Mary!!

Thanks to everyone who participated in Saturday's Gettin' Crafty event at the Bordeaux Library. It was a blast! Special thanks to 910moms.com member Pattianne for turning her idea for the get-together into a reality.

Here are some pictures, taken by Observer photographer Cindy Burnham:

Hi Everyone.
I received an email from ACMoore today, saying they are going to start having the opportunity to Celebrate Birthdays with Crafts beginning April 19th. Just a thought to share :-)

I want to share with you these links that allow you to sign up and get special offers and notifications!

In fact, I just got an email from ACMoore, and this Saturday, March 14, from 1-3pm, they are having a make and take featuring Thomas the Tank! If interested, call the local store (864.5013) for information! I spoke to Erica just moments ago, and it is FREE! In the store, in the back by the Thomas stuff, and it is one train piece to decorate with markers. She said she's had them as young as 2, so Mom's get out and have some fun!

Following are web addresses if you are interested!

www.acmoore.com at the bottom sign up for email alerts. There is also a store locator/sales and unadvertised specials you can check on. They are usually showing a 40% off coupon, every week, for non sale items. Every now and then they do 50% off total including sale items. Frequently, your check out receipts will give a special coupon so those are worth reading the fine print on.

www.hobbylobby.com has an email subscription link also. they normally do a 40% off coupon for email subscribers!

www.michaelscrafts.com on the right side you can sign up for discounts. Again, the 40% off coupon shows up a lot. I'm told that Michaels will accept competitors coupons but haven't asked yet.

www.joannfabrics.com also on the right side you can sign up for email specials. I've found that instore usually has better coupons, that you pick up at the registers, but still a wonderful way to save money. They do have some awesome ads that go out tho.

If you have the time, and patience, there are lots of free idea sheets and inexpensive kits. Let your imagination run wild!

And if you are planning on attending our Gettin' Crafty Saturday, April 4th, please RSVP... (check out the calendar on the main page) LOL I'm feeling like my deoderant failed or something...

My husband is the craftier of the two of us, but I do have certain niche crafts that I REALLY enjoy. I look forward to hearing what others are doing and will share when I find time :)

Hi, I thought there was a scrapbook place in Eutaw on the Elm street side? Have they closed? I just drove by and they looked open... Anyhow, I know that Hobby Lobby sometimes has classes as well as ACMoore and Michaels. I haven't actually participated in them tho. If you want to learn how to weave a basket of pine needles, let me know. I might be able to persuade my friend to have a small gathering... I've only done it once and wonder how much I forgot rather than what I remember. I found an online person willing to teach knitting basics as my daughter wants to learn that. I (after 21 years) picked up crocheting again, and am finishing a baby blanket I started for my youngest but had to put down for health reasons. I might have it done in time for my 3rd grandchild expected in August. If I can arrange it, does anyone want to meet at the library to share crafts? Let me know, and I'll check with the library.

I'm sad to say that all but one of the Scrapbooking stores in Fayetteville of closed in recent years. Loving Hands Creations on Hope Mills Road, in Fayetteville, is still kicking and I know offers classes on a regular basis, in the evenings. I hear the staff is great and so are the classes. You might try checking them out.

Any resources you can share about craft meetings or groups such as basket making, scrapbooking, quilting, etc.? I would like to join up with some others for these crafts to share and learn but haven't been able to find many that meet, specifically in the evenings or weekends as I work. Any direction or thoughts?

I can't take any of the credit. It was Christopher's idea to make the snowflakes. (He made some in his class at school a few weeks ago.) He talked me through each step of the project and I pretended it was the first time I'd ever made them. Gather the materials. Trace different size bowls to make the circles. Carefully fold the circle down into a cone shape. Trace silly shapes with a pen and then cut. He was such a fabulous teacher! (And I was a proud student!) The snowflakes -- 10 of them -- are hanging with tape on the glass of our front door and in one of the living room windows. He couldn't wait for Dad to get home from work to see them.

Oh, and he sang a snowflake song while he was hanging them up. How precious! I felt like such a Scrooge because I had to use a vacation day today ... but it turned out to be such a special time with my boys. (My youngest one has only been crawling for a few days, so it's a great day to watch him work his way around the room.)

Oh, and I'm STILL in my PJs. I went outside and threw snowballs ... then came back in and put PJs right back on!

Anyone else stay in pajamas today?!
